Eggs prevent diseases

Choline is a crucial nutrient for healthy fetal development and the function of your brain, nervous system, mitochondria and cardiovascular system. It also plays a role in metabolism and DNA synthesis

According to recent research, eggs, which are rich in choline, have anti-inflammatory activity and can be particularly useful in those with insulin resistance and/or metabolic syndrome

A small amount of choline is produced by your liver. The rest must be supplied through your diet. The recommended adequate intake for choline is about 550 milligrams a day, but many get nowhere near this amount. Some estimates suggest 90% of the U.S. population is deficient in choline   


Studies have linked higher choline intake to a range of benefits, including a decreased risk for heart disease, a 24% decreased risk for breast cancer, and the prevention of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)

NAFLD is the most common form of liver disease in the U.S., and prevalence has skyrocketed among children in recent years. Choline deficiency may be driving factor in this trend because if you don’t have enough choline, any dietary fat, and any food the liver can turn into fat, such as refined sugar and ethanol (alcohol), will promote the accumulation of liver fat

Sugar is the fuel for cancer

All dietary carbohydrates are digested into sugars called glucose. Glucose, in turn, can be metabolized (burned) for fuel using two different pathways. First, the glucose is metabolized into pyruvate. The pyruvate can then either enter the glycolysis pathway in the cytoplasm of the cell and produce lactate (this is an inefficient backup pathway), or it can be converted into acetyl-CoA and shuttled to the mitochondrial electron transport chain, which results in optimal energy production

The Warburg Effect refers to the observation that if your body has access to enough oxygen, it will preferentially burn (oxidize) glucose in your mitochondria by converting the pyruvate into acetyl-CoA

The state of mitochondrial physiology that Warburg accurately identified occurs when your body has enough oxygen and the mitochondria are not maxed out, yet still uses the backup glycolysis pathway. This is also called cancer metabolism. It gives the false impression that cancer is using glucose to supply its metabolic needs for energy, but it is merely an illusion


The primary reason glucose cannot be burned in your mitochondria is because the mitochondria are dysfunctional. This dysfunction is the result of the electron transport chain (ETC) being backed up with an excess of electrons that are unable to flow easily through the five complexes. This condition is known as reductive stress. In this situation, your body has no choice but to use the backup system, glycolysis

Contrary to natural fructose (found in ripe fruits and honey, for example), refined sugars and many starches are more likely to cause gut dysbiosis that leads to the production of endotoxin. This endotoxin is one of the factors that destroys mitochondrial function, resulting in cancer metabolism (the Warburg Effect) where glucose is burned through glycolysis

Light at night damages also your mental health

Light exposure at night is linked to psychiatric disorders, according to the largest such study to date

More light exposure at night was linked to an increased risk of depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, psychosis and self-harm

Greater exposure to light during the day was beneficial and was associated with a reduced risk for major depressive disorder, PTSD, psychosis and self-harm


Exposure to high amounts of light at night was linked to a 30% increased risk of depression, while exposure to high amounts of light during the day lowered depression risk by 20%
