The importance of metabolic health

Your metabolic health has a significant impact on COVID-19 severity, and at least 9 in 10 Americans are metabolically unhealthy

One of the classic changes associated with insulin resistance, obesity and metabolic syndrome is overactivation of the innate immune system, with decreasing activity in the adaptive immune system

When it comes to healthy aging, it's not your biological age that matters but, rather, your immune and metabolic age, both of which are malleable and can be improved through simple lifestyle changes

Research shows that when blood sugar is well-controlled and there's less glycemic variability, people do better when contracting COVID-19. When they have high levels of glycemic variability, which is indicative of insulin resistance, they fare much worse

Facebook: we are checking opinions, not facts

“Fact checks” are nothing but a biased censoring mechanism, and now we have proof of this fact, thanks to a lawsuit brought against Facebook by journalist John Stossel

In court documents, Facebook admits that fact checks are “statements of opinion” and not factual assertions

Facebook recently censored a whistleblower report published by The British Medical Journal (BMJ), one of the oldest and most respected peer-reviewed medical journals in the world, variably labeling the article as “False,” “Partly false” or “Missing context.” Some users reported they could not share the article at all

The fact check inaccurately referred to The BMJ as a “news blog,” failed to specify any assertions of fact that The BMJ article got wrong, and published the fact check under a URL containing the phrase “hoax-alert”

The BMJ calls the fact check “inaccurate, incompetent and irresponsible.” In an open letter addressed to Mark Zuckerberg, The BMJ urges Zuckerberg to “act swiftly” to correct the erroneous fact check, review the processes that allowed it to occur in the first place, and “generally to reconsider your investment in and approach to fact checking overall”

Mammography harming women

The documentary “Boobs: The War on Women’s Breasts” explores how mammography is causing more harm than good for many women

One of the harms of using mammography as a screening tool is that it can often lead to overdiagnosis and overtreatment, including false-positive tests and unnecessary biopsies

Due to the introduction of mammography, breast cancer was overdiagnosed — meaning that tumors were detected that would never lead to clinical symptoms — in 1.3 million women over a 30-year period

Mammograms and their resulting biopsies may increase the spread of cancer, and up to 1 in 4 breast tissue biopsies may be incorrectly diagnosed by pathologists, with unnecessary mastectomies being performed as a result

There’s also the issue that mammograms use ionizing radiation at a relatively high dose, which in and of itself can contribute to the development of breast cancer

Other potentially safer options to mammography such as thermography and ultrasound are not widely available because the billion-dollar mammagoraphy industry prevents the widespread use of these beneficial tests

Healthy alternative to flour

Breadfruit is a funny sounding name for a fruit that can be dried and ground to flour. The protein is easier to digest that wheat

The gluten-free fruit is high in fiber and has a low glycemic index. The trees produce up to 200 fruits in one year and have been a staple in the tropics for centuries

Breadfruit flour could reduce exposure to gluten in baked products; it could also mitigate diabetes and help with food shortages around the world

High fiber in breadfruit helps to feed the gut microbiome; it may prevent leaky gut syndrome and lower the risk of heart disease

Whistleblower exposes mRNA jab data cover-up

According to Brook Jackson, a whistleblower who worked on Pfizer’s Phase 3 COVID jab trial, data were falsified, patients were unblinded, the company hired poorly trained people to administer the injections, and follow-up on reported side effects lagged way behind

The FDA did not follow up on Jackson’s complaint or investigate the allegations before granting full licensing to Pfizer’s Comirnaty shot

FDA now wants 75 years to drip out the data it relied on to grant full licensing to Comirnaty

An adverse event report from Pfizer, covering December 2020 through the end of February 2021, shows the shot causes severe and often long-term, unresolved injuries

Pfizer’s data also show the shot causes severe injuries in pregnant and nursing women. Based on these data alone, which the FDA was aware of at the end of April 2021, the Pfizer shot should have been pulled from the market

Sleep problems caused by a vitamin deficiency?

Vitamin deficiencies, such as vitamin D and the B vitamins, can interrupt your sleep patterns. Vitamin D influences sleep, including reducing neurological symptoms, sleep apnea, and lowering the risk of sleep disorders

Vitamin D plays a role in the production of acetylcholine. The body uses B vitamins and vitamin D to produce this neurotransmitter, which helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle

Acetylcholine allows the body to be paralyzed during deep sleep, which in turn helps promote cellular repair and regeneration. This is one reason why sleep dysfunction has such wide-ranging health effects

Vitamin D is also important to the production of melatonin, a hormone crucial for the regulation of the sleep cycle

Unfortunately, many don't get enough sun exposure to attain optimal levels of vitamin D and an oral supplement may be required. Take these the steps to help determine if you need a supplement and the ideal dosage

Magnesium supports memory of older adults

Vitamin D protects neuronal structures, plays a role in neuronal calcium regulation, and can lower your risk for age-related neurodegeneration and COVID-19

Magnesium is required for converting vitamin D to its active form and improves brain plasticity. Magnesium deficiency has been implicated in several neurological disorders, including cognitive dysfunction

Research has shown higher vitamin D levels are associated with reduced risk of low cognitive function in older adults, and this association appears to be modified by the level of magnesium intake

You need 146% more vitamin D to achieve a blood level of 40 ng/ml (100 nmol/L) if you do not take supplemental magnesium, compared to taking your vitamin D with at least 400 mg of magnesium per day

Combined intake of both supplemental magnesium and vitamin K2 has a greater effect on vitamin D levels than either individually. You need 244% more oral vitamin D if you’re not concomitantly taking magnesium and vitamin K2
